Dark day for 'white houses' of Gurgaon
GURGAON: Residents of White Town Houses, a posh housing society in U-Block of DLF Phase III, are literally living in dark times. Since Wednesday night when the transformer in the area got burnt, most likely due to ill-maintenance and overload, the society has seen just two-three hours of power supply.
"Power crisis has been there for almost a month now but situation became all the more grave since Wednesday night.

Lack of power has also led to water shortage in the area. Despite our repeated pleas, authorities have failed to sort out the problem,'' fumed Vijayi Bhasin, a senior citizen from the society, which has around 180 houses. "We got just 10 minutes of water supply on Thursday morning and even that could not be stored in tanks. Later, we had to buy water from a tanker by paying Rs 400.''
Residents claimed that the power transmission system in the area needs to be upgraded and that DHBVN officials have failed to take note of it. "The transformers in the area are overloaded as nearby Nathupur village is also connected to them. But DHBVN officials have turned a blind eye to our demands,'' said Madan Yadav, another resident.
"Usually they do not listen to our grievances. And sometimes when they do, they tell us that power supply is erratic because not enough power is getting generated at power plants,'' complained G K Mehta, who lives in White Town Houses.
DHBVN officials said they were carrying out repair work on the transformer. "We got complaint about seven burnt transformers from DLF City and electricians have been sent to fix the problem there. As soon as they get fixed, power supply will be back to normal,'' said a senior DHBVN official.
