notifying a complete lockdown of the capital. Except for one-fourth of public transport buses, which will only ferry those involved in essential service, no other mode of transport would be allowed.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced the lockdown to ensure that the spread of Covid-19 is minimised in the capital.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had already announced that its train services, which were closed on Sunday too, will remain suspended till March 31, 2020. As part of the lockdown, other public service vehicles such as auto rickshaws, app-based cabs, kaali peeli taxis, private buses, e-rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, grameen sewa etc. will not be permitted to operate.

However, 25% buses of the Delhi Transport Corporation's (DTC) fleet, which comes to around 1,000 buses, will operate but only those involved in essential services will be allowed to travel. These include those involved in maintaining law and order, include police personnel, those involved in health services, fire services, prisons, banking services, general provision stores, chemists etc. Similarly, private vehicles carrying those involved in essential services will be permitted.
