NEW DELHI: Over 1,000 students of Delhi government schools have cracked the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) this year. Terming it a historic achievement, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said that this could not even be imagined a few years back.
"Wow! More than 1,000 students from Delhi government schools qualify NEET. This could not even be imagined just a few years back. Congrats to all students, parents, and teachers for their relentless efforts and dedication," said Kejriwal on Twitter.
Out of the 1,074 successful candidates, 695 were girls and 379 boys.
"The Kejriwal model of education has not only witnessed a substantial increase in the number of students qualifying for NEET but has also seen a significant improvement in individual performances," said a statement issued by the Delhi government.
Among the performers, Piyush Jha from Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya (RPVV) Paschim Vihar secured 99.995 percentile in the exam. He scored an All India Rank of 3 under the economically weaker section category. His overall rank is 88.
The number of students clearing NEET has shown a steady increase over the past few years with 569 students qualifying in 2020, 496 in 2021 and 648 in 2022.
Congratulating the students, education minister Atishi said, "The Delhi government under the leadership of CM Arvind Kejriwal remains committed to fostering a holistic educational ecosystem that nurtures the talents and aspirations of every student. By focusing on quality education, innovative teaching methodologies, and comprehensive student support, the government aims to empower the youth of Delhi to realise their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society."
