CBI Arrests Two DDA Staffers for Seeking Bribe in Vigilance Case
New Delhi: CBI has arrested an assistant vigilance officer and a multi-tasking staff employee of Delhi Development Authority in connection with an alleged bribery case, officials said on Tuesday.
According to the agency, the accused — identified as Deepak Yadav and Tarun — were arrested following a complaint lodged by a former deputy director of the authority. The complainant alleged that the two had demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh in exchange for sending a favorable reply to his parent department in connection with an ongoing vigilance matter against him.
Investigators said that after negotiations, the accused allegedly agreed to accept Rs 3 lakh as illegal gratification. Acting on the complaint, CBI laid a trap on Monday during which Yadav was allegedly caught red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 50,000 through co-accused Tarun. The amount was reportedly the first instalment of the agreed-upon bribe amount
