NEW DELHI: A BMW car rammed a divider after hitting another car near Delhi Gate on Thursday afternoon. Police are investigating the incident to determine the cause, including speeding or reckless driving.

The car belonged to Aas Mohammad, alias Ashu Pehalwan, a criminal who was externed from Delhi.

The BMW driver sustained a minor injury in the incident. No pedestrians were injured. "The driver was identified as 20-year-old Sukhwinder Singh. His medical examination will be conducted to check if he was intoxicated," a senior police officer said. A Class VI student was also in the car at the time of the incident.

The video shot after the incident revealed extensive damage to the BMW car, with its front bumper and bonnet severely impacted. The rods from the divider's railing pierced through the bonnet.

The incident also led to traffic snarls in the area for a while. A case for rash and negligent driving was registered at IP Estate Police Station.
