NEW DELHI: Amid heightened tensions following the Indian Army’s precision strikes on terror camps across the border, flight operations across several northern cities were disrupted on Wednesday, with Air India, Air India Express, and SpiceJet cancelling or diverting multiple flights.
Air India announced it had suspended all flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot till 12 noon today, citing “prevailing conditions” and pending further updates from authorities. Two international flights bound for Amritsar were diverted to Delhi.
“We regret the inconvenience caused due to this unforeseen disruption,” the airline said in a statement on X.
Air India Express also confirmed multiple cancellations, urging passengers to check their flight status and ensure their contact details were up to date.
SpiceJet followed suit, issuing a travel advisory and stating that airports at Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar and Amritsar were closed “until further notice.” The airline warned that both domestic and consequential flights may face delays or cancellations.
The disruptions come amid a volatile security atmosphere following reported Indian strikes on terror camps in Pakistan, escalating military alertness along the border.
