NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Seemapuri who was allegedly hit by an unidentified vehicle in Kaushambi on Sunday has been attacked nine times in the past, people close to her said. Santosh Koli (28) is still critical.
Party spokesperson Mainish Sisodia said, "On two occasions, she was attacked with a sharp blade-like object and once a man tried to cut her neck.
She had been working with us since 2001."
Sisodia added that Koli was part of the AAP team when the party had raised its voice on electricity meters. "Then there was the battle against the ration mafia which had created quite a furore. She was also an integral part of our Parivartan campaign and had always fought with integrity which used to irk the wrong elements," he said.
"She believes it's her duty to raise voice against the evil and could not keep her eyes shut towards wrongdoings around her," said Santosh's father, Ranjeet.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered but police have not been able to verify the sequence of events. "The forensic results are awaited and the witnesses are being examined," said S S Yadav, SP (city), Ghaziabad.
Police are yet to gather any CCTV footage from the stretch. AAP workers have said the car was an i-10.
A prayer for Koli's recovery was held on Monday in the presence of all top leaders of the AAP party.
