NEW DELHI: Nine persons, including five children and a woman, were killed and three critically injured when a fire broke out in a slum cluster in Kotwali area of north Delhi.

NEW DELHI: Nine persons, includingfive children and a woman, were killed and three critically injured when a firebroke out in a slum cluster in Kotwali area of north Delhi.Accordingto deputy commissioner of police (north) Sanjay Baniwal, the fire erupted atabout 2.45 am on Tuesday from a slum in Dhobi Ghat Basti of Yamuna Pushta andsoon spread, engulfing over 1,000 hutments in Sanjay Amar Colony’s BihariBasti and Bengali Basti. As many as 30 fire tenders were pressed into serviceand the flames were doused after a three-hour-long operation.Thedeceased have been identified as — nine-month old Parvati, Guriya (8),Qurban Ali (10), Jumna (10) and Tinto (12), Hamila Beevi (55), Ram Kishan (25),Mehmood (25) and Ulfat (35), the police said.
