NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly driving a truck that rammed into six vehicles, resulting in the death of a 65-year-old man, in central Delhi’s Anand Parbat area on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Manjeet Singh, a resident of West Patel Nagar.
According to police, information about the incident was received around 2.35 pm on Friday.
A truck bearing a Haryana registration number allegedly ploughed into multiple vehicles, including a car, another truck, three two-wheelers and an e-rickshaw, causing panic in the area. The driver fled the spot along with the vehicle immediately after the collision.
Singh, who was riding a scooter at the time, sustained serious injuries in the crash. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead shortly after admission.
During the investigation, police analysed CCTV footage and gathered local inputs, which helped them identify the accused as Mohit Dalal, a resident of Jhajjar in Haryana. He was subsequently traced and apprehended, and the offending truck was seized.
Police said legal proceedings were initiated, following which the accused was granted bail.
