The incident occurred in Ashok Vihar Phase-II around 4.20 pm. "Sharma and his 17-year-old friend rode to the showroom owned by one Satish Chandra in the same stolen motorcycle. They told Chandra they wanted to buy a car, but would like to take a test ride in it. He gave the keys to the boys and accompanied them. They drove up to Laxmi Bai College and returned to the office. Chandra alighted and came to his office expecting the boys to follow him; but the latter sped off, leaving the motorcycle behind," said Meenu Choudhury, deputy commissioner of police (North-West).
Police were alerted about the crime; and during probe, they received information about a boy roaming around Netaji Subhash Place, which matched the offender's description. Sharma was arrested and the car recovered.
Sharma had dropped out of a reputed private school in Rohini after failing in his Class X exam. Thereafter, he started working with a scrap dealer, police said.
