NEW DELHI: A city court has directed two senior officers of the Delhi Police to appear before it on Monday to report the progress in the cheating and forgery case pending against former All India Institute of Medical Sciences director S K Kakkar and Professor Rajesh Tandon.

the summons were issued after counsel for the complainant dr anoop saraya told the court that the police were not expediting the probe. v k ohri alleged that despite the court order, the police were not conducting the investigation properly "due to influence of a top government official". according to a complaint filed by saraya before the court in 1996, kakkar and tandon had allegedly cheated and forged documents in july 1993 to prevent his appointment as assistant professor. he alleged that tandon and kakkar had prepared "false documents" to block his appointment.
