New Delhi: Two Nepalese girls aged 19 and 16, who had come to Delhi after their country was hit by the disastrous earthquake in April last year, were rescued from a brothel in GB Road.
Last week, the girls had managed to sneak out of brothel number 59. The older one then called up her cousin who informed the Nepal embassy.
Two people have been detained by the police.
NGO Shakti Vahini is now counselling the duo.
"The victim's cousin contacted the embassy, which in turn informed Delhi Police. A case was registered and a police team raided the brothel with the help of a Nepalese association - Mool Pravah Akhil Bharat Nepali Ekta Samaj, New Delhi - on Tuesday," said Rishikant, an activist of Shakti Vahini.
"The older girl told us that she had come to Delhi after being promised a good job by a woman. However, the woman took her to the brothel and left her there," he said.
"The younger one landed in the brothel after getting ditched by her boyfriend who had called her to Delhi. Both the girls alleged that they were held hostage by the accused since last year," Rishikant added.
