NEW DELHI: The merit

list

of students selected under

sports quota

is set to be released by Thursday. This year, more than 12,000 students applied for 2,600 seats under this category. Around 4,000 candidatures were cancelled for ineligibility.

Since the process is not centralised, the selected candidates will have to go to colleges individually and get themselves registered for admission before every list. There will be three such lists this year.

According to CS Dubey, chairman of DU

sports

council, the final merit list of those selected for admissions in the process of compilation and is expected to be displayed on the DU portal a day ahead of schedule, by July 12.

The merit list will display a student’s name and the college offering seats for the sport of their choice.

After referring to the merit list, the student will have to go to individual colleges to register themselves for admission. Those who expect their names to appear in the first list as per their rank will have to get themselves registered between July 13 and July 15.

During this registration, students will be expected to carry their original documents for computation of the best-of-four. The college will then release an admission list, and those figuring on the list will have to secure admission in the college after completing final formalities and paying fees on the DU portal.

Those who do not make it in the first list will have to go back to the college for registration and verification, following which a second list will be released. In case colleges have seats left after the release of the third list, they will release a fresh one on their websites.

He said the candidate will also be allowed to withdraw his candidature from one college and move to another of choice after canceling on the DU web portal and depositing the form at the new college.
