Delhi traffic revamp plan
Public Works Department (PWD) proposes nearly 150 km of road infrastructure projects to decongest key city stretches.
46 km flyovers, underpasses
A major portion of the plan includes 46 km of flyovers and underpasses across congestion-prone areas.(AI Image)
Key choke points targeted
Projects will cover ITO, Ring Road, Deshbandhu Gupta Road (Paharganj–Ajmeri Gate), Shadipur Depot and NSG intersection near IGI Airport Terminal 1. (AI image)
Major elevated corridors planned
Proposed corridors include Nanaksar Gurudwara T-point to Delhi-UP border (Tronica City) and Shivaji Marg (Zakhira to Karampura). (AI Image)
New connectivity projects
Plans include a railway overbridge at Kirari and a 20 km corridor from Najafgarh’s Phirni Road to NH-48 near Kapashera. (AI Image)
Aim to ease congestion
Projects seek to streamline traffic flow, reduce travel time and improve commuting speeds across busy routes. (AI Image)
Minister’s statement
“Our focus is on fixing Delhi’s worst traffic choke points through a mix of road infrastructure projects, including new elevated corridors, flyovers, underpasses and corridor redevelopment plans that together will have a combined length of 150km across the city,” PWD minister Parvesh Verma said. Feasibility studies underway
Detailed studies are in progress, including a 55 km plan along Ring Road with a preliminary project report already prepared. (AI image)
Major project proposals
Key proposals include a 3 km flyover on 100 Futa Road, 10.7 km corridor from Kanjhawala to Mangolpuri and 17.5 km stretch from Keshopur Depot to Haiderpur. (AI Image)
Scientific planning approach
“These studies will help identify the most effective engineering solutions — whether flyovers, underpasses or signal-free corridors — to address congestion hotspots,” an official said; timelines will be finalised after feasibility reports. (AI Image)
