Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested three drug peddlers from Lohaghat in Champawat district on Monday and recovered over 8kg of charas from them.
Acting on a tip-off, the Kumaon unit of STF arrested Jitendra Singh, Sanjay Kumar and Jitendra Pal, all residents of Lohaghat, from Mayawati tri-junction.
Renuka Devi, senior superintendent of police (SSP) STF, said, “We have seized over 8 kg of charas worth Rs 5 lakh in the international market. We have also seized the car used for smuggling the contraband.”
During interrogation, the accused have admitted that they were planning to deliver the contraband to a customer from Delhi, said Renuka.
Since April 2016, the STF has seized over 91kg of charas and 4.8kg of ganja and arrested 21 peddlers from different parts of the state.
