Protest erupts at School in Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar over alleged misconduct by headmaster

RUDRAPUR: Parents of students at govt primary school in Guldia village in Bajpur block of Udham Singh Nagar district, held a protest on Saturday, demanding immediate suspension of the headmaster over allegations of misconduct. The headmaster allegedly used abusive language, asked students to press his feet and forced them to remove their uniforms.

The agitated parents removed their children from the school, locked the gates, and raised slogans against the school’s headmaster.

“The headmaster is supposed to be a role model, not someone who sows seeds of hatred,” said Mohan Diwakar, a parent. “Our children come here for education, not to be humiliated,” he added.

The parents were outraged after they found out the headmaster was on leave and they directed their anger towards the teachers at school.

“If the administration fails to take swift action, we will escalate our protest”, said another parent.

Sub divisional magistrate of Bajpur, Rakesh Tiwari, said, “The block education officer has been directed to submit a report over the matter within a week.”

Satendra Yadav, BEO in-charge, who is currently out of station, said, “I will personally investigate the allegations on Tuesday, and a report will be sent to the authorities for further action.”

Retired headmaster found dead

A retired headmaster, Balakrishna, aged 83, was found dead in his Belal home in Dharmasthala. He lived with his son, who was not at home at the time. Locals suspect foul play as the victim appeared to have been assaulted. Dharmasthala police are investigating the incident.

Parents, students protest steep hike in private medical fees

In Ahmedabad, parents and students protested outside the Fee Regulatory Committee office after fees for around 1,200 private medical, dental, and paramedical colleges in Gujarat were increased by 2% to 25%, averaging 12%. Protesters argued the hike will make local medical education unaffordable, forcing students to study abroad. They demanded a rollback of the fee increase.

LG Directs DDA To Repatriate Senior Official to Parent Cadre

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena directed the repatriation of DDA commissioner Vikas Singh due to delays in finalizing a land management deal with Survey of India. Despite three meetings to expedite a tripartite agreement involving DDA, MCD, and Survey of India, no progress was made, leading to Saxena's dissatisfaction with Singh's performance.
