One kanwariya dead, another injured after tree falls on them in Rishikesh

The incident occurred when the kanwariyas were on a bike, and whle driving through Shivpuri area of Muni-ki-Reti police station a tree fell on them.
SHO Muniki Reti police station RK Saklani said, “Ashok Kumar and his cousin brother Jacky, both residents of Begmabad in Lalkurti district, Meerut, had come to Rishikesh on a bike and were going to Badrinath when a tree fell on them. Ashok died on the spot, while Jacky was rushed to Rishikesh Civil hospital, where his condition is said to be critical. Ashok’s body has been handed over to his parents after autopsy. After one hour, Rishikesh-Badrinath highway was cleared for vehicular movement.”
Meanwhile in another incident, a 25-year-old kanwariya was rescued by the state disaster response force personnel when he was being swept away in Ganga river at Haridwar. The accident happened on Rishikesh-Badrinath highway near Garud Chatti around 8 am on Sunday morning. Locals informed the police about the incident.
The man was identified as Shiv Kumar, resident of Mainpuri district, Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, he tried to cross the stream of Ganga river from Kangra Ghat and through force got swept away. Another Kanwariya, who was taking a dip in the Ganga, shouted for help, and divers Suresh Tomar and Ashiq Ali jumped into the river. They managed to rescue him successfully.
