Haridwar: An employee of a software firm in Noida, identified as Ankit Mukherjee, was swept away when the raft he was on suddenly overturned in the Ganga in Rishikesh on Saturday evening.
The victim, who hailed from Barrackpore in West Bengal, was with five other people - all in their mid-twenties who were working with the Noida firm. When the raft overturned, two of them fell into the river.
One of them was rescued, but Mukherjee was swept away by the river current and is feared drowned.
SHO of Muni-ki-Reti police station, Ritesh Shah, said, "The raft overturned at Golf Rapid in Shivpuri after two people fell into the river. We are now trying to trace the victim's body."
