New CRPF IG meets Uttarakhand Guv, CM

Dehradun: Inspector general of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Dinesh Uniyal, who recently took charge of the Uttarakhand sector, met governor Gurmit Singh (retd) and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday.According to an official statement, the meetings focused on internal security challenges in the state and the CRPF's role in maintaining law and order. Uniyal briefed the state leadership on the force's deployment, training, infrastructure and coordination with state agencies.The governor and the CM appreciated the CRPF's role in maintaining peace and security, lauding the dedication and professionalism of its personnel, and acknowledging their sacrifices in safeguarding internal security. Dhami stressed the need for continued coordination between central armed police forces and the state administration, noting Uttarakhand's strategic and sensitive nature.Uniyal assured the state govt of full support in maintaining law and order, adding that the force would continue to work closely with the state police and local administration. Coordination, information sharing and disaster response also figured in the discussions.A senior CRPF official said the meetings underscored the importance of close coordination between central forces and state agencies to address emerging security challenges.Uniyal, a CRPF cadre officer, had played a key role in establishing the force's Uttarakhand sector office in 2017 and expressed satisfaction at the opportunity to serve in the state in his current role.
