police on Sunday busted a
fake job racket
and arrested eight people, including an
MTech
and
MBA graduate
, on charges of duping people on pretext of providing jobs in AIIMS Rishikesh. Police also recovered fake appointment letters and cash worth Rs 1.70 lakh and laptops from them.
The accused have been identified as Deepak Gobari, a graduate in microbiology, Sagar Pandey, Chirag Garg, Vikram Singh, Abdul Qadir, Ajay Rawat, Abhishek Kum, who has a MTech degree and Amit Bharti, who had done MBA from Meerut.
According to police, the accused cheated gullible youths by claiming to be employees of AIIMS and having contacts with the senior officials in the institution.
The racket was busted after Paras Kumar, resident of Roorkee, filed a complaint in Rishikesh police station on January 21, claiming that Deepak Gobari took Rs2.50 lakh from him and gave him an appointment letter, which he later found to be fake.
“A team was formed to nab the culprits. After days of hard work, the police managed to arrest the prime accused, Deepak Gobari, from Chandrabhaga Bridge on Saturday,” said Virendra Singh Rawat, circle officer (CO) Rishikesh.
CO Rawat added that other accused were arrested after Deepak Gobari spilled beans during his interrogation.
“They used to give appointment letter to the people. The letter contained forged monogram of AIIMS Rishikesh and fake digital signature of the director,” a police officer said.
The officer said that during interrogation of Deepak Gobari three other names surfaced and a team has been formed to nab them.
