Rudrapur: Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh on Monday inaugurated the Uttarakhand State Inter-University Games and Sports Meet at Stevenson Stadium of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar. As many as 722 students from 10 universities across the state are participating.
Lt Gen Singh unveiled the Chancellor's Trophy and released the official souvenir. He said, "Sports is a powerful tool for character building. Discipline and enthusiasm of our youth will play a vital role in making India a developed nation by 2047."

The governor congratulated the participants, especially women athletes competing in the 800 m race. In the 800 m race, Ankit Nang of Soban Singh Jeena University won gold in the men's category, while Neetu of Kumaon University topped women's event.
VC Manmohan Singh Chauhan said the university gives equal importance to academics, sports and cultural activities.
