Dehradun: Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has urged Union petroleum minister Hardeep Singh Puri to ensure uninterrupted supply of commercial LPG cylinders for the smooth conduct of the Char Dham yatra. Puri assured support, reiterating the Centre’s commitment to safeguarding the state’s interests.During a meeting in Delhi, Dhami highlighted the surge in demand for LPG during the annual pilgrimage, which runs from April to November and draws millions of devotees to Uttarakhand. He said the state requires around 9.67 lakh commercial LPG cylinders during this period.

Citing the region’s mountainous terrain, the CM said, “LPG is critical not only for hospitality services but also for disaster management and relief operations.” He sought an additional 5% allocation—around 48,397 cylinders—to strengthen preparedness and response capabilities.Dhami underlined that Uttarakhand’s economy is dependent on tourism, particularly religious and adventure travel, with the Char Dham yatra forming its backbone in terms of faith, culture and economic activity.
