Dehradun: In the wake of the recent assault on director of elementary education Ajay Kumar Naudiyal at his office, allegedly by supporters of Raipur BJP MLA Umesh Sharma Kau over a demand to change the name of a primary school, members of various organisations met chief minister
Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday, expressing concern over the safety of govt officials. Dhami called the chief secretary and directed him to prepare a standard operating procedure (SOP) to ensure the security of govt officers, employees and teachers.
The CM also instructed the director general of police (DGP) to ensure adequate security at govt offices and to take swift legal action in such cases. The senior superintendent of police (SSP), Dehradun, was directed to act as per rules against those involved in the incident at the education directorate. Earlier in the day, employees staged a protest at the directorate, wearing black armbands.

"The govt has always been serious about the dignity and security of personnel. We will take the required steps in the matter," Dhami said.
President of the Uttarakhand Adhikari Karamchari Shiksha Morcha, Ram Singh Chauhan, demanded a public apology from the MLA and said the protest would continue until he complied. "There is a protocol for everyone and it should have been respected.
As the MLA of the ruling party, he could have approached the CM or the concerned minister over any issue. Entering an official's room with several supporters and accusing the officer of wrongdoing raises questions about the functioning of his own party's govt," Chauhan said.
Referring to the meeting with the CM, Chauhan said Dhami had directed the chief secretary to prepare the SOP and asked the DGP to strengthen security arrangements at govt offices. "Our key demand is the arrest of those involved in the violence, and the CM has directed the SSP Dehradun to take appropriate action," he added.s
