Dehradun: Chief minister
Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday flagged off the "Road Safety and Green Earth Marathon" from the Circuit House in Dehradun, marking the conclusion of National Road Safety Month 2026.
Organised by the Uttarakhand transport department from Jan 16 to Feb 14, the programme aimed to raise awareness among citizens, particularly the youth, on traffic rules and promote a cleaner, pollution-free state. Around 800 participants joined the 5km run through Hathibarkala, Dilaram Chowk and Ashley Hall, before finishing at Parade Ground.

Addressing the gathering, Dhami urged citizens to follow road safety norms, exercise caution while driving and prioritise pedestrian safety. He called on youth to act as "flag-bearers of road safety" and "road safety friends" to spread awareness in society. The chief minister also appealed for collective efforts to protect the environment, maintain cleanliness and reduce pollution.
Regional transport officer (enforcement & road safety) Anita Chamola said a 12% decline in road accidents was recorded during the road safety campaign, particularly in Dehradun district. Winners across various categories received trophies, certificates, and cash prizes sponsored by vehicle dealers in the city.
