Dehradun court directs FIR against BJP men for beating party worker

DEHRADUN: A special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act court on Thursday ordered Dalanwala police to register an

FIR

in a matter in which a BJP member has alleged thrashing and humiliation by party members, including a staff member of state chief Ajay Bhatt. A 17-year-old party member, who resides in Hathibadkala area of Dehradun, approached the court after he claimed that the police refused to lodge an FIR on his complaint.

He said that he was a member of the BJP youth wing and was its vice-president from Tehri district, from where he originally belongs. He claimed that he frequently visited the Dehradun Mahanagar party office of the BJP at Parade Ground and when Ajay Bhatt got the ticket from Nainital constituency, he went there for his nomination.

He added that during the nomination process he had an argument with Om Prakash the private secretary of Ajay Bhatt and Shyam Pant, the Mahanagar president of

He claimed that during one of his visits to Bhatt’s home, the two snatched his mobile and called him to BJP’s office in Doon on May 11. In his complaint, he maintained that they attacked him with wooden sticks and humiliated him. He claimed that they even recorded his video and threatened him to not tell anyone about it. He claimed that he had approached Dalanwala police station but his request was ignored.

BJP media in-charge Devendra Bhasin said that the party was not aware of any such development. “We will look into the matter if a case is registered. The law will take its course,” he said.
