DEHRADUN

: Chief secretary

Utpal Kumar Singh

, in a meeting held with district magistrates (DMs) on Saturday ordered the officials to identify children below 10 years, elderly persons and

pregnant women

in their respective areas and strictly restrict their movement in market places or any crowded areas.

The DMs have also been asked to prepare a database of such people and create awareness among masses on Covid-19.

The review meeting, which was also attended by health secretary Amit Negi, was held via video conferencing at the secretariat on Saturday. While talking to DMs and other senior officials of the respective districts, Singh said that

contact tracing

must be done by obtaining travel history of each returnee. He also insisted that every district must ensure decent number of Covid tests.

The official further directed government employees engaged in controlling the spread of Covid-19 to coordinate among themselves and take care of their own safety.

He instructed the DMs to provide security kits to all the officers and employees engaged in the work.

"Data of migrants should be prepared so that if found Covid positive, information about their travel history is available immediately and spread of infection can be checked. The DMs must also prepare data of children, pregnant women, elderly and people suffering from serious diseases in their districts and completely ban them from moving in public places," he added.
