BJP hails unopposed wins in panchayat posts in Uttarakhand as boost to CM Dhami’s development push
DEHRADUN: BJP on Monday called the large number of its candidates winning unopposed in the posts of district panchayat chairperson and block pramukh, a clear endorsement of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s development policy, and a step towards accelerating the pace of development.
State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Shri Mahendra Bhatt described this as the beginning of installing a “triple engine of development” in villages and expressed gratitude to the newly elected panchayat representatives.
Calling the victory of a large number of party candidates on the very day of nomination a highly anticipated outcome, Bhatt said it was already clear that the rural public of the state would use their votes solely for regional development. He expressed confidence that the party will win all district panchayat chairperson posts and the majority of block pramukh seats.
State media in-charge Shri Manveer Chauhan also expressed satisfaction over the nomination process for block pramukh and district panchayat chairperson posts, and the unopposed victories of party candidates.
Chauhan further informed that party-nominated candidates had filed nominations for all 12 district panchayat chairperson posts and 83 block Pramukh posts.
Ramesh Chauhan in Uttarkashi, Anand Singh Adhikari in Champawat, Ajay Maurya in Udham Singh Nagar, and Jitendra Prasad in Pithoragarh have been elected unopposed as district panchayat chairpersons.
BJP also won the following block pramukh posts unopposed: Anchala Bora from Champawat, Chandraprabha from Kashipur, Upkar Singh from Sitarganj, Sarita Rana from Khatima, Mamta Panwar from Bhatwari, Rajdeep Parmar from Dunda, Rajesh Nautiyal from Jakhnidhar, Suman Sajwan from Chamba, Narayan Thakur from Vikasnagar, Lata Devi from Pabo, and Meenakshi Arya from Takula.
