After HC order, ‘state agitator’ status given to 26 Bageshwar residents

Nainital: The Uttarakhand high court on Friday heard a PIL filed by Bageshwar-resident Bhagwan Singh Majila and 25 others. All of them asked the court to direct the concerned authority to grant them the status of state agitators. After hearing the matter, the single bench of Justice Sarad Kumar Sharma ordered the Bageshwar district magistrate (DM) to grant them the state agitator status. Earlier, their identification was done by a committee constituted under Bageshwar DM. All of them played an active role in the creation of Uttarakhand.
