70-yr-old woman beaten to death while trying to stop family feud in US Nagar

Rudrapur: A 70-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death on Tuesday night in Udham Singh Nagar's Dineshpur after she intervened in a violent altercation between her son and daughter-in-law. Police said Prasenjit Shah and his wife Surabhi, married for four years, had argued over a personal issue earlier in the evening. As the dispute escalated, Surabhi alerted her family members, who soon arrived at her matrimonial home. What began as a verbal exchange quickly turned into a physical confrontation between the two sides.Amid the scuffle, Shah's mother, Sandhya Devi, stepped in to calm the situation but was allegedly assaulted and suffered grievous injuries. She collapsed on the spot and was rushed to the district hospital in an ambulance, where doctors declared her brought dead.The clash also left Devi's son-in-law, Sonu Kumar, seriously injured. Police reached the spot, brought the situation under control, and sent the body for post-mortem.Circle officer DR Verma, who visited the scene with a forensic team on Wednesday, said, "We have taken six suspects, including Surabhi, into custody and are questioning them."SSP Ajay Ganpati also visited the scene and met the bereaved family. Assuring a fair probe, he said strict action would be taken against those found guilty, adding, "The investigation is underway and all angles are being examined."
