36yo man held for fake bail surety dies in police custody
Haridwar: A 36-year-old man died in police custody on Tuesday after he was arrested by Haridwar police on Monday evening for allegedly providing surety for an accused using forged affidavits in court.Police said Naresh Kumar complained of chest pain on Tuesday morning while undergoing a medical examination at Roshanbad Community Health Centre (CHC). As his condition worsened, he was referred to the mela hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.Police said a postmortem has been conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death. Preliminary findings suggest that a heart attack may have led to his sudden death.SHO Nitesh Sharma of Sidcul police station said four accused, including Kumar, were arrested for allegedly arranging bail sureties for unknown individuals for monetary gains by submitting fake affidavits in Haridwar court."They were taken to CHC for medical examination before being produced in court. During the process, Naresh complained of chest pain and was shifted to mela hospital, where he died," Sharma said.
