2 dead, 2 injured as tractor-trolley overturns in Almora

Bageshwar: Two people died and two others were seriously injured after a tractor-trolley they were travelling in overturned in Chintoli village under Deghat tehsil of Almora district on Sunday, police said.Sub-inspector Ajendra Prasad of Deghat police station said, "The accident occurred when the tractor carrying stones went out of control and overturned, trapping the occupants underneath."Village guard Chandan Singh and a police team reached the spot and launched a rescue operation with the help of local residents. After a prolonged effort, the victims were pulled out and taken to Deghat community health centre, where doctors declared Darshan Singh, 24, and Chandan Singh, 24, both residents of Chintoli, dead on arrival.The injured, Gopal Singh, 24, and Narendra Singh, 18, were given first aid and referred to a higher medical centre.Villagers demanded a probe into the accident and urged authorities to strengthen road safety measures.
