DEHRADUN: Two persons died while 13 others suffered injuries in several accidents in the districts of Tehri and Pithoragarh on Friday.
In one incident, a truck fell into a gorge at Munsiyari-Thal road about 40 km ahead of Pithoragarh. Driver Sanjay Kumar, 22, a resident of Bhatyuna village, Pithoragarh, died on the spot. Three others who were injured have been identified as Sunil Kumar, Nonu Waldiya and Rohit Kumar.
They have been admitted to a primary health centre at Gauchar.
In another incident, driver of a jeep lost control of the vehicle at Ranichauri, Dandachali, in Tehri around 9 am. After hitting the parapet, the vehicle carrying 11 people fell into a gorge. Most passengers were teachers in different schools. One Mohan Singh died on the spot. The 10 others who have suffered injuries are Manok Pant, Anita Chauhan, Manju Rana, Madhu Rawat, Rajendra Prasad Bahuguna, Anurag Negi, Chatar Singh, Manju Rawat, Kamleshwar Prasad Suyal and Sangeeta. Tehri police rushed to the spot and with the help of locals rescued them. All injured were taken to the district hospital where the condition of six is stated to be critical.
