DEHRADUN: Chief secretary

Utpal Kumar Singh

said that unnecessary correspondence between the implementing department and the administration should be avoided, as it is pointlessly delaying the

Char Dham

all-weather road project.

As many as 43,000 trees will face the axe for constructing 522km roads, in phases 1 to 7, under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious Char Dham all-weather road project. And of these, 23,000 trees have already been cut on 285km stretch in the hill state of

Uttarakhand

.

The figure of 23,000 axed trees was shared by the executive agencies during a meeting led by chief secretary

Singh

to review the progress of the Rs 12,000 crore all-weather project. Chief secretary said adequate funds are being made available as per the demands but delay should be avoided.
