: Police on Wednesday arrested a woman for allegedly beating her 4-year-old niece brutally.

members had rescued the girl on Tuesday and had lodged a complaint at CDA phase II police station in the matter. Acting on the FIR, police arrested the accused

from her CDA sector 11 located residence.

“The accused woman has been arrested under section 323 (causing hurt) of IPC and 75 of

Juvenile

Justice Act. Besides, we have also called the parents of the girl who stay in Delhi,” said ACP, Pramod Rath.

“Court rejected Pranati’s bail application and sent her to judicial custody for14 days,” said government counsel,

Notably, a neighbor of the girl had recorded video of her aunt beating her brutally with a broom and made it viral. Taking cognizance of the video, a team of CWC and Childline members had raided Pranati’s house and rescued the minor girl.

There were many injury marks on body of the little girl. The CWC after providing medical treatment to the girl has kept her in a child care institution in the city. CWC officials said the four year old girl was staying with her father’s sister since last nine months while her parents stay in Delhi.

The girl in her statement has told CWC that her aunt used to beat her brutally with sticks and broom if she commits any mistake. “The girl is not inclined to go to her parents as they also ill-treat her. We will examine her parents and try to get a clear picture of the incident. After proper investigation, we will take decision about her rehabilitation. Meanwhile she will stay in the child care institution,” said chairman of CWC, Bikash

However, the accused woman has told that she was just trying to make the child disciplined by beating her.
