Trio arrested for posing as cops & robbing ₹30,000

Cuttack: The commissionerate police on Tuesday arrested three persons for impersonating policemen and looting one Sibu Biswas in the city.The accused were identified as Maharashtra residents Raza Ali (24) of Badwani district, Jafar Hussain (42) of Beed district and Hasan Ali (28).Police said on April 19 around 11.50am, Sibu went to an imitation shop in Pithapur here to buy an anklet when the trio approached him and asked to search his bag. When Biswas refused and asked them to produce valid identity cards, one of the accused snatched the bag and took out Rs 30,000 and fled from the spot.Biswas lodged a complaint at Badambadi police station and during investigation, police came to know that the three accused were involved in a series of crimes in the city.“There are 14 cases lodged against the trio in various police stations across the city. We caught them red-handed near Dolamundai,” DCP Anil Mishra said.Two motorcycles, three cell phones and Rs 14,950 were seized from their possession.
