The cost of the project will be shared between BCCI, OCA and state govt. Currently, the stadium can accommodate 42,000 spectators.
Many structures in Barabati Stadium, built in 1952, are in a dilapidated condition. “Dilapidated structures will be demolished. An advanced architectural design has been finalised along with advanced facilities,” Behera said.
After 5T chairman V K Pandian reviewed the renovation plan and discussed with OCA president Pranab Prakash Das and other officials, Behera said spectators will experience international standards in terms of access to the stadium right from roads to parking to galleries, comfortable viewing and facilities like food courts and washrooms, among others. The complex will have facilities for other sports.
