Cuttack court hands life term to man for murder

Cuttack: The court of second additional sessions judge, here on Thursday sentenced a 41-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering a woman at Malabiharpur under Banki police station limits in Cuttack district more than four years back.Judge Srotaswinee Kar also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Ramesh Behera while convicting him under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for killing his neighbour Mami Khatua. The judge also directed that the fine amount, if realised, be paid to the legal heir of the deceased. The incident occurred near the house of the deceased on May 27, 2019. The accused assaulted Khatua on the head with an axe during an altercation. tnn

Elderly man sentenced to life for wifes murder

Bijay Pradhan was sentenced to life imprisonment by a trial court for hacking his wife to death in 2022. The additional district judge imposed a fine and Pradhan was arrested in Mangalpur, Ganjam district.

Man held for axing 75-year-old in Betul

A man was arrested for axing death of a 75-year-old in Betul's Bazpur village. Baraskar was last seen with Dhurvey. In an inebriated condition, Baraskar commented about the accused's mother, leading to the accused attacking him with an axe, according to Sandeep Parteti, Ganj police station in charge.
