HC notice to govt on recruitment of 18k junior teachers

Cuttack: The Orissa high court on Friday admitted a petition challenging the draft merit list published by Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) to recruit over 18,000 junior teachers in primary (classes I to V) and upper primary (classes V to VIII) schools. Accordingly, the single-judge bench of Justice Biraja Prasanna Satapathy issued notices to the state government and project director of OSEPA to file their responses.Chintamani Bhuian and three others filed the petition seeking the court’s intervention alleging the draft merit list of 18,805 candidates was published on January 15 without adhering to the guidelines which the school and mass education department had issued through a resolution on August 22 last year for the recruitment of junior teachers. As a result, several candidates did not find place in the merit list, the petition alleged.OSEPA had fixed Saturday and Sunday for verification of documents of the candidates in the merit list. The petitioners also sought an interim stay order on the recruitment process.Justice Satapathy refused to grant a stay order, but imposed restriction on the finalisation of the recruitment process. “Let the process with regard to verification of the documents continue on the date fixed, but no final decision be taken with regard to final selection and appointment till January 24 (the date fixed for further hearing),” Justice Satapathy said.

The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has declared the Odisha Junior Teacher Result 2023 today, January 15, 2024. The result includes Category I (Class I to V) in Arts, Science, Urdu, Telugu, and Bengali, as well as Category II (Class VI to VIII) in Arts, Science, Urdu, Telugu, and Bengali.
