Cuttack: Former minister and BJD MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak’s from Rourkela assembly constituency was challenged in the Orissa high court on Friday.
BJP’s Dilip Ray who lost to Nayak by a margin of 3,552 votes filed the petition through advocate Soumik Spandan Tripathy. “The election petition has sought declaration of Sarada Prasad Nayak’s election as void on the ground that he had suppressed information at the time of filing nominations,” Tripathy said.
“The petition has alleged that Nayak, while filing his nomination papers, had not disclosed his total assets and liabilities and criminal cases pending against him,” he said.
Of the total 1,39,170 votes cast, Nayak had secured 64,660, while Ray got 61,108. TNN
