4 die as truck collides head-on with car

Cuttack: Four persons died and one sustained serious injuries when a truck collided head-on with a car at Nuasadak Chowk under Tigiria police station limits in Cuttack district on Monday.The deceased have been identified as Subash Behera, Chandan Khatua, Ananda Charan Behera and Silu Prusty of Athagarh area.Police said the accident took place around 3pm. Five persons travelling in the car were coming from the Athagarh side. The car collided with a truck coming from the Nursginghpur side on NH-65. Police said the reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained.Locals rescued the injured persons in critical condition and rushed them to the Tigiria hospital where doctors declared four of them brought dead. The collision was so intense that the four died of injuries within 15 minutes. One person, identified as Deepak Sahu, who sustained serious injuries was sent to the SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment.Locals said the driver of the truck fled the spot after the accident. Rupak Singh, a resident of Athagarh area, said, “This particular stretch at Tigira had witnessed more than 10 deadly accidents within a few months.”“We have sent the four bodies for post-mortem,” said Mihir Panda, superintendent of police of Cuttack (rural), adding that the truck was seized and a case was registered.

Driver dies, another hurt as trucks collide on NH2 in Hazaribag

A head-on collision between two trucks in Danua Ghati zone on NH-2 resulted in one driver's death and another driver sustaining serious injuries. The injured driver has been taken to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital in Hazaribag. The collision caused a fire that damaged the vehicles and medicine in one of the trucks. The accident disrupted traffic for several hours, highlighting the need for better road infrastructure and lighting in the area. NHAI project director Vijay Kumar recently inspected the site.
