Salem: Two candidates missed the opportunity to write the NEET on Sunday, after reaching the examination centre by a delay of 20 minutes caused by the reliance on Google Map.
Sanjeevi from Salem and Ganesh Babu from the Mettur Dam area were supposed to write their NEET at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Belur near Vazhapadi.
However, both the students went to the centres at Attur and Vazhapadi as directed by Google Map before reaching their allocated centre at Belur at 1.50pm. NEET candidates are supposed to enter the examination centre before 1.30pm.
Hence, the authorities refused to allow Sanjeevi and Ganesh Babu to enter the centre, where 600 candidates, including 204 male and 396 female students, wrote the exam. Their parents appealed to officials alleging that the delay was caused by incorrect navigation on Google Map, but the request was declined.
