Coimbatore: A 55-year-old doctor working in a primary health centre in Tirupur district died of Covid complications on Tuesday.
Dr Arul Raj was working as a medical officer under the Tirupur corporation at the New Ramakrishnapuram urban health centre. Dr Arulraj was a native of Tuticorin.
According to senior health officials, Dr Arul Raj died on Tuesday at the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.
Dr Arul Raj fell ill in the last week of September and took leave from work. He was admitted to the Theni government hospital where he tested positive for Covid-19.
He was later shifted to the Madurai government hospital for treatment where he died without responding to treatment on Tuesday. The body was taken to Tuticorin for last rites. tnn
