COIMBATORE: Beacons, a coffee table book on nine industrialists and five healthcare entrepreneurs who have enriched Coimbatore's economic growth in the last few decades, was released before an invited audience at a function held under the aegis of The Times Group. The 64-page book includes 14 success stories and they have been compiled as a celebration of the entrepreneurial spirit of Coimbatore.

Eminent industrialist, educationist and art lover B K KrishnarajVanavarayar released the book by handing over a copy to NandiniRangaswamy, secretary and founder-trustee of GRG Institutions in Coimbatore and managing director of Chandra Group.
Speaking on the occasion, Vanavarayar lauded The Times Group for publishing the volume. "As the title implies, this first-of-its-kind book will offer guidance and be a source of inspiration to many people in and outside the city (Coimbatore),'' he said.
"The profiles have been compiled in a way reflecting Coimbatore's success in two key business sectors and (the articles) introduce the distinct business philosophies of the 14 entrepreneurs. In total, they represent the contemporary industrial history of the city,'' said Vanavarayar.
Industrialists R Kumaravelu (Aquasub Engineering), S Ravi (Craftsman Automation), S Ramachandran (Kavin Engineering), Mahendra Ramdass (Mahendra Pumps), R Vathirajan (Padmavahini Transformers), J Mohanasundari (Sharp Electrodes Pvt Ltd), K K Rajan (Sharp Industries Ventura), C Muthusami (Stark Motors) and K S Natarajan (Trident Pneumatics) feature in the book along with healthcare entrepreneurs Dr Ramkumar Raghupathy (G Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital), Dr Sundaramoorthy (Lotus Eye Hospital), Dr S R Rao (Rao Hospital), Dr V G Mohan Prasad (VGM Hospital) and Dr Mirudhubashini Govindarajan (Women's Centre Hospital).
The luminaries were also presented with citations during the function held at the ball room of Hotel Residency. Key members of Coimbatore's trade and industry attended the function which was presided over by Ninan Thariyan, vice president and head, response division of The Times Group. The evening function wound up with a music concert.
