Three booked for trying to murder construction worker in Coimbatore
COIMBATORE: The Ramanathapuram police in Coimbatore city have registered an attempt to murder case against three men for brutally assaulting a 45-year-old construction worker during a drunken brawl. The victim has been identified as K Pulikesi. According to police, Pulikesi’s wife, Latha, said her husband had been recruited for work by an acquaintance named Ayyanar, a mason from Chennai, at a site near Ramanathapuram.On April 11, Latha received a phone call from her husband’s mobile phone. During the call, she overheard a heated argument between Pulikesi and his coworkers. Pulikesi was heard pleading with his coworkers not to assault him. The call was abruptly disconnected.After failing to reach her husband, Latha filed a complaint with the Ramanathapuram police.

Police investigations revealed that Pulikesi had suffered severe injuries and had been admitted to the intensive care unit at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. Pulikesi told police that his coworkers, Ayyanar, Dromo and Kalaivanan, had assaulted him during a drunken brawl.Police launched a manhunt for the trio.
