Teacher hangs to death as ex-lover posts morphed pics online

ClearedSalem: A 22-year-old schoolteacher committed suicide by hanging herself near Magudanchavadi here on Tuesday evening after her estranged boyfriend posted morphed photos of her on Facebook and Instagram in an apparent bid to scuttle her wedding preparations. The Magudanchavadi police identified the deceased as K Shanmugapriya, of Ernapuram village. She was a teacher in a private school. According to sub-inspector G Kannan, Shanmugapriya was in love with Gautam, of the same locality, when they were studying in a private engineering college near Rasipuram. "Recently, she broke up with him because of his abusive behaviour. And her family members were looking for a bridegroom for her." He said Shanmugapriya was found hanging from the ceiling of her room using a sari on Tuesday evening, when her mother K Vijayalakshmi, a widow, returned home after work. Vijayalakshmi immediately alerted the Magudanchavadi police, who retrieved the body and sent that to the govt hospital in Sankari for postmortem. Vijayalakshmi lodged the complaint with the Magudanchavadi police, stating her daughter was upset after Gautam uploaded her morphed photos on social media.
