They were released on bail but since February 4, 2011, they failed to make court appearances. Consequently, the court issued prisoner transit warrant for Saritha Nair.
The judicial magistrate V Karthikeyan ordered that Saritha S Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan should be produced before the court on December 27 pertaining to the two cheating cases. The court also said that summons would be issued to Ravi for appearing before the court.
"Saritha was escorted back to Attakulangara women's prison from Coimbatore. Biju Radhakrishnan is presently lodged at Kollam Central Prison. Both of them will appear before the court regarding the two cheating cases," said advocate K Damodaran, who is representing Saritha Nair.
Police said, Saritha was an executive director of International Consultancy and Management Services (ICMS), which promised to set up domestic wind turbines in Tamil Nadu in 2008-2009. Saritha and her husband Biju Radhakrishan, managing director of the ICMS, were residing at a rented house in Thirumurugan Nagar at Vadavalli in 2008. The couple had advertised their windmill services in newspapers.
Jyotsna N Kilachand, managing trustee of Shree Abubabji Charitable Mission Trust from West Lake at Udhagamandalam had approached Saritha for installing a windmill at the Trust in July 2008. She gave Rs 5.57 lakh to Saritha in two installments to set up the wind turbine. The trust had spent for Rs1lakh for laying cables for electricity. However, ICMS failed to install wind turbines at the Trust and Jyotsna lodged a complaint with Vadavalli police. Police arrested Saritha, Biju Radhakrishnan and R C Ravi, director of the firm and all of them were sent to Coimbatore Central Prison.
Meanwhile Thiyagarajan, managing director of Rajnarayan textiles at Vadavalli, lodged a complaint with Vadavalli police that he was cheated Rs26lakh by the trio. The accused managed to obtain bail soon after their arrest. Meanwhile, the cases were transferred to the district crime branch.
