Coimbatore: Observing international Women's Day, private institutions in the city organised a rally and a walkathon to raise awareness on women's health on Sunday. Women police officers also held an awareness rally at Race Course.
The Jain International Trade Organization (JITO) in collaboration with Gem Cancer centre and other NGOs organised a national car rally to create awareness on thalassemia and cancer. The car rally was held across 10 locations in the country including Delhi and Surat. The car rally in Coimbatore attracted over 100 women participants in about 60 cars.

Rao Hospital organised the third season of the Endo March 5K Walkathon 2026 to raise awareness about endometriosis, as March is observed as endometriosis awareness month. More than 200 people participated in the event. Coimbatore south MLA Vanathi Srinivasan who was the guest of honour, addressed the participants.
Private companies in the city also conducted similar events with an emphasis on women's health. Salzer Electronics Ltd, held a marathon on the theme ‘Step Up for Wellness', where more than 500 male and female employees of the company participated.
The Coimbatore International Airport also held a series of programmes focusing on women's health, wellness, and togetherness by the women's association Kalyanmayee, the Coimbatore unit of Airports Authority of India.
VGM Hospital conducted a medical camp at the airport, as part of the celebrations.
At a special international Women's Day seminar jointly organised by Save Soil Movement, an initiative by yogi and mystic, Sadhguru and KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, speakers called upon women to lead India's shift toward natural farming, emphasising their instinctive connection with nature and their crucial role in preserving soil fertility. The seminar, titled "Home-Based Entrepreneur 2.0", held today at the KPR College campus drew over 3000 women participants from various districts. The day-long program offered guidance on agriculture-based self-employment, natural farming practices, and value-added agribusiness opportunities.
A special talk was also held on ‘Women's Health and Wellness' emphasising holistic approaches to health, including the role of Ayurveda, stress management, and healthy living practices in ensuring overall well-being.
