COIMBATORE: A 34-year-old man was brutally attacked by two persons with a knife generally used for scaling fish on Monday night. The injured person has been admitted at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Police have arrested one person in this incident.
The arrested person has been identified as M Sampathkumar (28) of Manimegalai Street on NH road in the city.

The injured person has been identified as G Prakash from Kattoor in the city.
Police said, Sampathkumar and Prakash were relatives, both fishermen. The duo had 9.5 cents of land at Manimegalai Nagar, family property which was solely enjoyed by Sampathkumar and his father S Murugan (53). Prakash and his father Ganesh also had equal share in the property and they often quarreled with Sampathkumar and Murugan. On Monday night, Prakash who was in drunken mood had gone to Manimegalai Nagar and ad quarreled with Sampathkumar over the joint property.
Sampathkumar got angry and brutally attacked Praksh on his head with a knife. Prakash sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to CMCH.
Based on Prakash's complaint, Sampathkumar was arrested by Ukkadam police for attempt to murder and he has been lodged at Coimbatore Central Prison. Murugan also sustained injuries in the quarrel and was admitted at CMCH. He also lodged a complaint against Prakash and Ganesh.
