Only NDA could deliver a govt that safeguards women’s rights: Amit Shah
Erode: Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the BJP-AIADMK alliance under NDA was a "winning coalition" capable of bringing stability and development to Tamil Nadu.Campaigning for BJP candidate Kirthika Shivakumar in Modakkurichi constituency, Shah accused DMK of corruption and dynastic politics, charging that chief minister M K Stalin's only goal was to elevate his son to the top post. Referring to the women's reservation bill, Shah said DMK and Congress had defeated the move to ensure greater representation for women in parliament. He also criticized the opposition for trying to thwart delimitation, claiming they were acting out of fear that Tamil Nadu's representation and women's political participation would increase. Promising a new era under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Shah said NDA govt would restore Tamil Nadu's pride, improve law and order, and eliminate corruption. "Voters must reject "family rule" and support BJP candidate in Modakkurichi. Only NDA could deliver a govt that safeguards women's rights and ensures prosperity for the state," he said canvassing vote for Kirthika Shivakumar. Earlier, Shah arrived at Sivagiri by helicopter from Coimbatore. Party cadres accorded him a traditional ‘poorna kumbam' welcome, before Shah embarked on a roadshow that culminated near the statue of freedom fighter Dheeran Chinnamalai in the town. Shah travelled in an open vehicle, waving to thousands of people who lined up on either side of the streets, holding saffron flags. Shah appealed the voters to deliver a decisive mandate for Kirthika Shivakumar.
