Modi govt will implement delimitation bill successfully: EPS
COIMBATORE: Extending support for Centre’s delimitation bill, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday said Union home minister Amit Shah had assured that Tamil Nadu would not be affected by the exercise. He said the Modi govt would implement the delimitation bill in a manner that would leave everyone satisfied.
Campaigning for AIADMK and BJP candidates on V K K Menon Road, EPS said it was out of fear of losing the election that CM M K Stalin was spreading a false propaganda that the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies would affect Tamil Nadu.
“When Shah visited Tamil Nadu, he had clearly mentioned that there would be no harm to any state. No matter how much effort DMK and its alliance parties put in, delimitation will be implemented as assured by Centre across all states,” he said.
Replying to a statement by senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, EPS said he had not brought any significant scheme to Tamil Nadu despite being a Union minister for almost three terms. “Chidambaram doesn’t have any right to talk about AIADMK and its leaders,” he said.
EPS accused police officials, including those in higher ranks, of favouring the ruling party and foisting false cases on AIADMK members, especially in Karur. “Once we form govt, these officials, regardless of their ranks, will face consequences.”
Slamming Stalin for his statement that the present election was a war between Delhi and TN, EPS said while this poll has nothing to do with Delhi, the CM was manipulating people in fear of losing the election.
EPS also came down on V Senthilbalaji, who is contesting in Coimbatore South, stating while even Covid-19 virus had a vaccine, for someone like Senthilbalaji, who was more dangerous than a virus, there was no cure.
“He is here to exploit the people and the city of Coimbatore after completely taking advantage of Karur. Though crores of funds were allocated for road-laying works, nothing was executed in Karur as most of the allocated amount was scammed. He is such an evil person who lacks humanity. Though Stalin is now appreciating Balaji, he was the one who accused him of job scams in the transport sector,” EPS said.
He said the only success stories of DMK were the 100% property tax hike, 150% commercial tax hike, implementation of tax for garbage and electricity tariff hike. “Tamil Nadu has never seen such an incapable CM who could not control these tariff hikes and always keeps blaming Centre,” he said.
